Ain’t No Formula

2 February 2010 No Comment

This past Sunday night, I spoke on the idea of serving the poor.

In my own life, I have adopted a formula of serving the poor that says, I must promote the development of people for the long term and reject the idea of simply making their lives better for the moment.  It’s the idea of “teach a man to fish.”

Formulas are comfortable.  They give us easy answers.  They allow us to not have to continually listen for God.  Problem is, the Bible doesn’t approach 98% of our lives formulaically – serving the poor included in that percentage.

So, in honor of my room mate, Lander, I titled the message, “Ain’t No Formula” and made this short little intro by searching vimeo for random videos.  Thanks to a German 8 bit Rock band, a news show from a high school in Massachusetts, a robot and the 1980s, I present my video : Ain’t No Formula.

The whole message will be available at the Status Video Podcast and the Status Audio Podcast starting Tuesday, Feb 2.
