Re-Imagining ‘Evangelism’ : From Product to Intimacy
As you and I enter into a relationship with God through Jesus, we’re called to be “ambassadors of his reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19) That means that God is longing for humanity to know the deep, unconditional love he has for us, and he’s using you and me to convey that love.
However, most often, you and approach this opportunity with the attitude of
recruiting to a team or
selling a product
But what if you and I approached this “ministry of reconciliation” with God’s heart that longs for intimacy with people? We would stop trying to convince people to join a team or buy a product. We would introduce God as the friend he longs to be.
When we want to introduce two of our friends, we start by letting our friends know what they have in common with one another and how we think they will enjoy one another. But when we introduce people to God, we have a tendency to begin with the things we think are wrong or broken between humanity and God.
This message is about our Goal, Role and subsequent Method in “Redemptive Relationships.”
