How To Get The Most Points With The Amazon Prime Card

I love helping people fulfill their travel dreams... and getting around the world for free. That's why I wrote about the true travel rewards cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve and the Chase Sapphire Preferred

But maximizing points is all about using the right cards for the right things at the right times. And if you're an Amazon Prime member, you gotta get the Amazon Prime Card. It's not a true travel card with the kinds of benefits like the Reserve and the Preferred. But with 5% back on Amazon purchases and no annual fee, it's a no brainer.

Here's what I do with my Amazon Prime Card.

Use it for all my Amazon Purchases

The Amazon Prime Card gets 5% on every dollar you spend on Amazon (and now Whole Foods).

Food... Maybe

You'll also get 2% back on restaurant purchases. So if this is your only card, use it for food. But if you have the Reserve or Preferred cards, you're better off using those for food.

Subscribe and Save

If you're not using this function as part of your Amazon Prime Membership, you're leaving some serious savings on the table. It doesn't help you accrue points. But the only thing better than accruing points is not spending money at all!

When you subscribe to 5 items or more and have them delivered on a subscription schedule, you save 15%. So, I determine how much toilet paper and Lysol Wipes our house will use in three months. Then add a few flavors of protein bars and some protein powder – items I use/eat on a regular basis. I combine all those together and have them delivered on a three month schedule.

The whole order is about $300. So I save $45 every quarter. That's $180 in savings a year. AND they're all delivered right to my door.

Travel Cards

The Amazon Prime Card is a great card for anyone playing the points game. But it's not a true travel card with all the perks that entails. Check out the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Preferred, and Chase Freedom Cards if you're looking to travel.

Here are some photos I took on my trip to Africa I bought with my Reserve Card.
